· Visa
Foreign nationals entering the Republic of Korea are generally required to have a valid passport and a Korean visa. However, many are permitted visa-free entry for a limited time under certain conditions.

· Currency
The unit of Korean currency is the Won (₩). Coin denominations are ₩10, ₩50, ₩100 and ₩500. Banknotes are ₩1,000, ₩5,000, ₩10,000 and ₩50,000. The exchange rate is approximately USD1 to KRW1,153 as of January 2011
 
· ATM

· VAT
Value-Added Tax (VAT) is levied on most goods and services at a standard rate of 10% and is included in the retail price. In tourist hotels, this 10% tax applies to rooms, meals and other services and is included in the bill.
 
· Emergency
Dial 119 for the fire department and medical assistance, and 112 for the police.
You may also dial 1339 for emergency medical Information. Trained medical personnel (doctors, nurses and paramedics) are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in 12 locations nationwide.
 
· Tipping
Tipping is not customary in Korea. Sometimes, expensive restaurants and luxury hotels may add a
service charge of 10%. Thus, you do not necessarily have to prepare for extra charges since it will
be included in the bill.
 
· Electricity
In Korea, 220 volt outlets are most common. Some hotels provide 110 volt outlets for shavers. Please check the power supply before use.
 
· Telephone Calls
A local call costs ₩70 for three minutes. For international calls, first dial the international dialing code, then the country code, followed by the area code, and then the phone number. You can rent a cell phone at the airport.

· Insurance
The Organizing Committee will take no liability for personal injuries sustained by, or for loss or damage to property belonging to congress participants, either during or as a result of the congress. It is, therefore, advised that participants arrange their own personal health, accident and travel insurance.
 
· Time Difference
Korean time is 9 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+9).
